The translation engine at the core of Translate has been under development for more than a decade. The dictionaries contain nearly 300,000 English terms, heavily annotated with syntactic and semantic information, and the grammar contains more than 12,000 rules. A set of probabilistic "experts" built into the program chooses the most likely structure for each incoming sentence. The E>J (English to Japanese) engine has been marketed in Japan, the worlds largest translation market, for over a decade and has over one million users and the largest market share. The same easy to use user interface is used in products for French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Translate includes the following three major editions: Personal, Business and Pro. They all use this same superior translation engine. Here is a summary of their features:

Translate Personal provides translation of text and web pages. It is the entry level version of our powerful, extensive, and cost-effective family of desktop language translation software.
Personal edition comes with ClipTrans, LogoTrans, MirrorTrans, and Transit as well as the Translate control bar, and the Internet Explorer Translation Toolbar.

Translate Business is the intermediate version of our desktop translation software. In addition to all of the features of Personal Edition, Business includes Business subject dictionaries and powerful Office Add-ins for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Translate Pro is the flagship version of our desktop translation software. Obtain the highest possible accuracy and control over translation with Pro. Pro includes all the features of Business, plus all of our special dictionaries (e.g. Engineering, Medicine, Law and many more.. 4,086,050 terms in total) for select professional subjects, as well as our Dictionary utility, allowing you to view, create and modify dictionaries. Pro also includes our batch file translation utility, FileTrans, allowing efficient translation of multiple files. The newest version can even translate PDF files.

• Text-to-Speech(new): for English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
• Hover Translation(new): Point the cursor at a word and a translation of the sentence or word immediately appears near the text.
• Translate Selection(new): Select any text and its translation appears next to it.
• Text Capture(new): Import text to LogoTrans from any program. No need to cut and paste: just click or draw a rectangle around the text you want to import.
• Translate in all directions(new): Translation Engines are provided for each language pair, including language-specific dictionaries and options
• Composite Translation Engine combines pairs to translate even more language pairs. For example, get a Spanish to Japanese translation by translating from Spanish to English and then English to Japanese. You'll get up to 64 additional language pairs.
